-valis Pick of the Week

Hail Voyagers! This week's Pick hails from my beloved city of St. Louis! While there have been a few psychedelic bands here, it has decidedly not been a hotbed for the genre. (Much more a blues/r&b city.)

Brian Andrew Marek & Manik Myk Thompson have been flying under the banner of The Vertigo Swirl for some time and have released Swirl 3 on their Rubberstamp Records label. I found it a most-enjoyable release.
Our blog friend, Mike Floyd, over at homemade lo-fi psych has posted download links, approved by the band, for your enjoyment.

(You can also check out their ReverbNation site.)

Finally, for those readers in the St. Louis area The Vertigo Swirl has grown to a four-piece cast of madness and will be playing live this Thursday night, December 8th, at Pop's Blue Moon.

You can listen to the archived stream here; or, hear it this Friday, on The Dead Man's Turn Me On, Dead Man show on Live365, where it's heard every Friday at noon eastern time, as well as Mr. Atavist's Sunrise Ocean Bender show, heard every Friday from 3 to 6am eastern, on WRIR in Richmond, VA.
