The Wayback Machine

A new feature which we'll try and bring readers every week. The premise is put thusly:
You've been given a one-time opportunity to use The Wayback Machine; what band would you like to see, in what year, and what song would you most want to see them play?

Our first time-tripper is Wayne Larsen of 80s Neo-Psych band
Laughing Soup Dish, (also The Secret Syde.) Anyone who sings about being a 'Teenage Lima Bean' is fully qualified to strap in and take off.

So Wayne, where are you going?
Wayne: I'd like to see Syd's Floyd doing Millionaire live in '67 ( I have 2 audio tapes of live Syd show's in late '67 and his playing is ACE despite what that wanna be roger Water's says, the proof is in the tapes!)
Best, Wayne-o

Glad to see I'm not the only weird-oh to ponder this one. As incredible as it would be to catch some of the old timey blues men in their prime (Robert Johnson or Howlin' Wolf come immediately to mind) nothing would blow my mind more than to catch just about any 60's bill at Detroit's Grande Ballroom. First choice would be The Stooges, of course, preferably right around the release of Funhouse.

At this particular moment, I have a real nostalgia for "Green Circles" by the Small Faces, circa 1966. To me, it evokes the transition from Mod to Psychedelia, an era very dear to my heart. Hearing it live, in situ, would be to re-experience the crackling electricity that held residence in the human environment at that time,
of which groups like the SF's embodied.

I'll conserve the Wayback Machine's fuel by staying in the sixties. I would have like to have seen the Yardbirds doing "Happenings Ten Years Time Ago." I haven't seen Blow-Up in quite some time, but I'm imagining a setting much like the Swinging London club scene from that film.

oh man...i agree with dead man about the yardbirds. i would love to have seen the shows when beck and page were on stage together. those live rave-ups must have been a dual guitar apocolypse.
