-valis Pick of the Week

Hail Voyagers! The Pick this week calls the Motor City home, from Detroit: VSTRS! Their self-titled debut, released just last month, is available via their Bandcamp page.

Album opener, "Chambermaid," is a stomping invitation to the rest of the work; reminds me in quite a few ways of several '70s albums in its use of instrumentation and vocals to achieve anthemic heights. "Modern Times," continues course and certainly reinforces the notion the band are no novices to their instruments and what they want to do with them. Mid-way through, "Traveling" is the highlight for me. A slow-burning -and long-burning at nearly eight minutes, affair of vistas-in-the-mind creation. A band to watch. And we will.

Now you should watch:

You can listen to the archived stream here; or, hear it this Friday, on The Dead Man's Turn Me On, Dead Man show on Live365, where it's heard every Friday at noon eastern time, as well as Dogs Got A Bone out of Edinburgh, Scotland, from 10pm to midnight, Mondays, U.K. time, (adjust accordingly,) on Belter Radio.
