-valis Pick of the Week

Hail Voyagers! Our Pick, this week, calls Norway home: Rancho Relaxo! Their new album, White Light Fever, is out on their own Trout As Lubrication label.

No strangers to this blog, they've been in the Brain Buzzin' Best Of lists with seemingly every release they've put out. This new one merits attention on its own and stands up to the redwoods already in the discography. If anything, in my ears, they're a bit more forceful on this outing. A sprawling 15 tracks and 74 minutes, there's just enough calm in the storm to give the listener time to breathe and reflect before the next onslaught begins. Opening strongly with "Strange Vibrations," they hit full stride by track three, "Stars," and follow up through track six with unrelenting sonic bluster. By the time track 13 rolls into the headphones you'll be upright or just up....worthy and worthwhile. So say I.

Sennheisers on! Try this:

*** You can listen to the archived stream here; or, hear it this Friday, on The Dead Man's Turn Me On, Dead Man show on Live365, where it's heard every Friday at noon eastern time, as well as Dogs Got A Bone out of Edinburgh, Scotland, from 10pm to midnight, Mondays, U.K. time, (adjust accordingly,) on Belter Radio.
