-valis Pick of the Week

Hail Voyagers! The Pick this week should need absolutely NO introduction: The Pretty Things!!!
Hot on the heels of the career-spanning box set, Bouquets From A Cloudy Sky, comes this surprise: The Sweet Pretty Things (are In Bed Now, Of Course,)out on Repertoire Records!!!

52 years on, line-up changes and life-as-it-happens, and Phil May and Dick Taylor are still providing us with relevant, rockin' music which has to be heard. Ably assisted by Jack Greenwood on drums, George Woosey on bass and rhythm guitar, as well as Frank Holland who supplies 2nd guitar and Mellotron, this -their twelfth studio album, and first in seven years, pulls together virtually everything we've ever loved about the band. Opener "The Same Sun" is a slice of SF Sorrow era sturm und....while their take on The Byrds' "Renaissance Fair" is given perfect Pretties treatment. Also, there's a revisiting of a May/Taylor composition dating back to '67, "Turn My Head," which finally gets proper and deserved attention. Fireproof suit not included! May all the gods bless The Pretty Things!
