-valis Pick of the Week

Hail Voyagers! Our Pick this week comes from Florence, Italy: The Vickers! Their new album, Ghosts, is out on Black Candy Records. (as well as Crash Symbols in the USA)

While the two opening tracks, "I Don't Know What It Is" and "She's Lost" were released earlier, as singles, the album brings eight new tracks to the party. And a party this is. Displaying a knack for Beatlesque harmony -and harmonics, The Vickers have virtually assured themselves a spot in a lot of year-end Best Of lists, around the world. (imho, of course. Of course.)

As our good friend Mr. Atavist so aptly puts it, yet again:
" Admitted devotees of The Beatles, that little outfit’s fingerprints can be felt across the shimmer of Ghost, though smudged with current treatments and flourishes. Newcomers will more than likely make comparisons to Tame Impala, and there is a similarity in the aqueous elasticity they share, but The Vickers aren’t nearly as dense and have a much sharper and tighter focus on hooks, making all the atmosphere serve under the song rather than smothering it. "

Amazing production highlights the overall sound, yielding an album rewarding multiple listens. A keeper, to be sure! I believe you need this.

Touring extensively throughout Europe right now! Hoping they get to these shores soon...keep your eyes open.
