-valis Pick of the Week

Hail Voyagers! Our Pick this week comes from the west coast state of California, Dahga Bloom! Their new album, No Curtains, is out via Captcha Records, and is in process of melting turntables everywhere!

Holding back from hyperventilating on hyperbole, this thing SMOKES! Crunchy, dynamic, fuelled by gods-know-what. Or, as our great pal Mr. Atavist so aptly puts it:
" Taking the left-field uncaged fury of The Pink Fairies, The Stooges and maybe even a touch of The Deviants’ frayed spirit for good measure and stoking it with the fuel imbibed by today’s smash hit makers like White Manna, Comets on Fire, Human Eye and Destruction Unit, Dahga Bloom mix a fireball of a cocktail that goes down like gargling chrome shavings. Tastes great, sounds even fucking better. Trashy, gravelly, echo-heavy, gloriously burnt and delivered through a jet engine and cosmic vacuum, No Curtains about sucks the air out of the room from the start with Supa reaching out to shake your hand … and then pulling it out of the socket to beat you over the head with it. And you’ll take it. " (further statements here.)
For my money, the 9+ minute slash-and-burn of "Wampum/Rotted Man" lights up the inner spaces enough to see the fringes. Comes on -and sustains, its drive like The Wooden Shjips in a typhoon.

More hear. Careful with combustible or flammable material. Seriously.
