-valis Pick of the Week

Hail Voyagers! Our Pick this week calls Staten Island, New York, home, where they've been kickin' up a racket and raisin' the ruckus since 2005: Colour! Their newest release is a compilation, out on The Blurry World Record Co., entitled The Chronological Happenings (best of 2005 - 2013). Since I'm eight years late to their brand of party this served me well as introduction and brain-wallop. As the label aptly states: "The album works as a huge strange listen as well as a greatest hits record. Colour wouldn’t have it any other way. Everything they do is intended to space you out and this collection of songs does that with all it’s wall of guitar, banging drums and delayed vocals. The bands catalog show variation through the years but their sound remains a fuzzed out mixture of Slowdive, A Place To Bury Strangers and the waters guitar and drum sounds of The Cure’s Disintegration record." I tend to agree. Unequivocally. *** You can listen to the archived stream here; or, hear it this Friday, on The Dead Man's Turn Me On, Dead Man show on Live365, where it's heard every Friday at noon eastern time, as well as Mr. Atavist's Sunrise Ocean Bender show, heard every Monday from 1 to 3 am eastern, on WRIR in Richmond, VA.
