-valis Pick of the Week

BOOM! Out today, ('though I'd read it was releasing this Friday, the 14th,) is the third album from Iowans-turned-Californians, Radio Moscow: The Great Escape Of Leslie Magnafuzz! True to its title, this!

Full of boozy, psychedelia-laden blues by the bucketfull, the guys show absolutely NO SIGNS of letting the foot off the gas to whatever place they've seen in their mind's eye. And, we're along for the ride. (Now that I think about it: maybe they're drivin' back to the '70s! Erasing three decades of mind-numbing pap along the way. Granted there's been a lot to like in the past three decades. I could name hundreds. But the crap, not the cream, is what gets churned into ---insert solid waste reference here.) Radio Moscow would be right at home with the bell-bottomed crowd, stereos in the basement turned to 10, keg in the corner, bong on the homemade coffee table......double album opened to separate seeds.

What's playing on the stereo..? This:

Get the album through Alive, BOMP!, or other fine establishments where aural assaults are traded for currencies.

You can listen to the archived stream here; or, hear it this Friday, on The Dead Man's Turn Me On, Dead Man show on Live365, where it's heard every Friday at noon eastern time, as well as Mr. Atavist's Sunrise Ocean Bender show, heard every Friday from 3 to 6am eastern, on WRIR in Richmond, VA.
