The Wayback Machine

Greetings & Hail once again, Mind Travelers!

Aplogies for the tardiness of our Monday post but I've been slaying dragons. (a/k/a heinous, malevolent adware.) I think my problems have been sorted out now.

OK, on with the show! Today's Guest Time Tripper is a Philadelphia gadfly, man-about-town, and jack of all trades. He's been in the Lilys, produced and/or engineered albums by Bardo Pond, and lent his guitar & bass expertise to a couple of Brother JT albums, too. And, since 1996, he has his own band. Please welcome to Trip Inside This House, Art Difuria of Photon Band!

Art & Co. have just released a new album, Back Down To Earth, out on the Empyrean Records label.

So, where does Art want to go?!

You've been given a one-time opportunity to use The Wayback Machine; what band would you like to see, in what year, and what song would you most want to see them play?

Art: This is such a hard question to answer, of course, because I love so many bands, but I'm gonna have to go with my gut on this and say I would most like to see MC5 play "Sister Anne". Footage of them playing live and is the most electric I've ever seen. It feels like the music matters in a way that goes beyond musical concerns (like "hmmm...what a great songwriter he must be" or "wow...he has a great guitar sound"). It feels like the *sound* of the band might pour into your soul and make you want to DO SOMETHING to improve the human condition...one...soul...at a time. Of course, such notions are laughable these days, which I think is really REALLY sad. That IS the human condition in need of improvement. The MC5 would agree with me!!!

valis: Nice pick! OK, strap youself in...

Thanks Art!

(Come back tomorrow for yet another Special Post.)

Sister Anne is my fave Motor City track as well -- it has everything that is great about rock n roll and the detroit sound all rolled up to perfection.
